Chelsea’s away support very rarely let us down, especially when they have a chance to unleash their acerbic with on the home fans.Villa Park on Saturday was no exception.
It has to be said that it was a decent atmosphere on Saturday, and the Villa fans lived up to their ‘Scousers of the Midlands’ tag by screeching for every dubious decision going, surpassed only by their players who clearly got to Chris Foy on more than one occasion. To be fair though they made a lot of noise (after the goal went in) but is their a more unedifying sight than a once ‘big’ club with lot’s of history celebrating a home win in the Premier League (and one with the major assistance of the referee for that matter) like they had just won the Champion’s League Final?
Fitting too that the True Blue Massive came up with a couple of ditties to wind them up – both regarding the fact that the infamous Channel 4 ‘reality doc’ – ‘Benefit Street’ was filmed in Birmingham. It would be churlish not to give them both a mention, the first being: “We know where you live, we know where you live, Benefit Street, we know where you live”, followed up with the “We pay your benefits, we pay your benefits”. Presumably The Chelsea Choir couldn;t come up with a rhyme to go with “Anything for yow cup cake”, or match the nasal twang of the home support.
Our third nomination goes to an old Chelsea classic, and what’s more, one that is often belted out in defiance after a defeat to proclaim our undying support and love for the ‘Boys in Blue’. A personal favourite of mine too. Simple and meaningful: “We Love You Chelsea, We Do, We Love You Chelsea, We Do, We Love You Chelsea, We Do, Oh Chelsea We Love You!” And indeed we do even when they don’t return the sentiment!
And this is what we had to say about it on the Chelsea FanCast this week. Tune in every Monday at 19.00-21.00 GMT at sportstonightlive.com or on this website here or of course you can listen and post in the chat room at Mixlr.
I’ll have “You’re not special, you’re not special, you’re not special any more! You’re not special any more”.
I’ll go for ‘Cheerio, Cheerio, Cheerio’ when Ramirez and Mourinho both got their well deserved marching orders. Sweet.
Didn’t realise there were any ex man utd fans at villa park on saturday. away fans were silent the whole game…
We love you Chelsea
we love you Chelsea.
can we play you every week?
oh and thanks for paying our benefits.
but do you pay them or does Roman?
Just made up for the ropey refereeing decisions down at your gaff earlier this season or are you lot suffering convenient amnesia?
‘Scousers of the Midlands’? Dunno about that but you lot are fast starting to sound like the Dirty Mancs of the south.
I’d rather be a Scouser than Blue…

You lot must be proud.
Worst away fans I’ve ever seen/heard at the Villa. The best chant for me was everytime Chelski sang, Villa fans drowned them out with boring, boring, boring. Plastic little tram with no history or songs.
To all you Villa fans that are posting comments on this site. You surport a team, that best you can hope for season after season is midtable mediocrity by Christmas, surguest you surport Birmingham as at least they have the fun of gaining promotion ocasnaly.
Grant, i “surgest” you should have spent a little more time at school
That just goes for londoners in general
We don’t support “a team” we support THE team, the team that started it all, we also won the European Cup when you had to be champions to even get in it!
this is a good site. I think I’ll log onto here every week to wind up Chelsea.
but seriously, a column written by someone called Samford Chidge?
hoho what a wizzo play on words
Just except you find it hard to beat us a The Great Villa Park
Get over it , grow some and if you think your chants spoit our day , then you want to get out more
UTV
The not so special one should take a leaf from your away support at villa park yesterday and keep quite
