003 LuizA difficult choice to select Man of the Match this week with so many good individual performances and a great all round team performance.

The best of the best in our opinion were as follows.

We were slightly worried about who would come in to assist Nemanja Matic in the defensive midfield role with the suspension of Ramires. Frank Lampard would have been an obvious candidate had it not been for his exertions against Galatasary in the week. That left a choice of two. Mikel who would have been perhaps a bit negative, or David Luiz who would have been perhaps a bit risky! Jose knows best and he picked Luiz who together with Matic absolutely dominated the Arsenal midfield. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was kept firmly in Luiz’s pocket except when diving like a goal keeper, and much of our game plan succeeded as Luiz was so quick to break up play and get things moving forward, as well as having a couple of opportunistic strikes himself.

Andre Schurrle’s contributions in the first 10 minutes effectively won Chelsea the match – his breaks down the right imagesCATV3ROGflank and interplay with Eto’o assisting the first goal before the favour being returned for an excellent strike for Chelsea’s second. He was also instrumental in the fourth goal with an exquisite flicked pass to Torres in the build up. A top display by the German and on any other day a man of the match performance.

Our third nominee is Oscar. He has undoubtedly suffered from a dip in form recently, no doubt due to fatigue as he has played non-stop for so long. As a result Mourinho has been using him sparingly and this seems to be doing the trick. He looked back to 150277774_oscar_552505bhis best yesterday – pulling the strings with Hazard, setting up attacks, making important tackles and generally dictating the play from midfield. All that plus two goals – the first technically superb and a late run in to the box redolent of Frank Lampard in his prime, and the second an opportunistic strike that Secezny made a complete mess of.

If you want to vote for your Man of the Match nomination then all you have to do is vote below. We will be revealing the results and discussing what we voted for on the Chelsea FanCast on Monday 24th March. I agree with Sky and would have voted Azpilicueta motm if I had the choice, he could arguably be the best left back in the world out of position, but as I don’t have that option, I’m going for Schurrle, he is so clinical in a side where our forwards are struggling for goals. The whole team were immense though.

Would love to give it to Eto as he really set us up for the win, he looks keener by the week to help steer us to the league title but overall display goes to oscar with 2 goals and overall looks more like what we are used to.

  6. Daniel Francisco says:

Thought Luiz had a very comanding performance seeing as he has been on the bench Andre edged it though
