Brana Ivanovic was one of Chelsea’s better performers, was defensively sound all game long and clearly having missed the final in 2012 and scoring the winner in the Europa Cup final last year really wanted another bite at the cherry. Gave his all and was clearly distraught at the final whistle. All heart and 100% Chelsea.

John Terry unlike in the first leg, won and lost his share of battles with Diego Costa (although even with his quick recovery, as with a couple of his teammates there is no way he was fully fit himself) and came very close to retaking the lead for the Blues with a header that Thibaut Courtois did excellently to keep out. Like Brana gave everything for the cause and was in tears at the end with the realisation that his last chance for taking part in a Champions League final may have gone. His jinx continues…for this season at least.

Willian was probably Chelsea’s best attacking player on the night, and he instigated the opener with a tricky bit of play and provided a number of opportunities with three wicked deliveries from set pieces.
